Desert Victory

Desert Victory was the first in a trilogy of 'Victory' films - the others being Tunisian Victory and Burma Victory - by British filmmaker Roy Boulting. It was produced in 1943 and charts the British campaign against Rommel in North Africa and the Battle of El Alamein. Boulting brought together reels of footage from the desert, and combined it with reconstructions filmed at Pinewood studios, echoing the production of First World War "documentaries" such as Malins's The Battle of the Somme.
